A call to pregnant folks, postpartum parents and their babies under a year old -- come and sing with us!
After a beautiful pilot session last spring, Jordan and I are thrilled to bring back this offering as a full 4 part series (you're invited to come to one or all of the sessions)! This community singing offering will take place at a private home, and will be co-led by Sarina Partridge (community songleader) and Jordan Edelheit (doula, emerging songleader). Our time will be guided by songs inspired by birth and the vastness of parenthood, no prior music experience needed. Folks of all genders welcome. If this speaks to you, trust that voice within and come be part of this communal space of song and birth.
This program is made possible thanks to a grant from the IDEA fund, through the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota.
POSTPONED TO SUNDAY, SEPT. 22 DUE TO LIKELY THUNDERSTORMS TONIGHT!!! Same time, same place -- see you SUNDAY!
Come gather in community to sing and celebrate the equinox!
Free, all ages, all are welcome, all voices needed, come as you are.
We will sing in Powderhorn Park on the south side, near the picnic tables. You can park at the rec center and walk along the path to the left around the lake, or park up on 35th St and walk down the hill.
Expect to be welcomed, help create the mandala if you wish to be part of that, be led in song for about an hour by Sarina, then any community members who want to keep the singing going will step in and lead more songs! Oh, and we may enjoy some yummies from folks who bring a seasonal treat to share.
Optional:
- Bring a found-in-nature object or a few, to help create our community nature mandala
- Bring a seasonal treat to share. Yum!
Harmony Circle, Fall Session - Mondays September 16 - October 28, 6-8pm at New City Center/ Walker Church on 16th Ave and 31st St.
We will play with: learning to hold down a part, hearing harmonies, and we will learn lots of great songs of this seasonal moment together. Songs will be simple harmony songs in two or three parts, mostly songs I've written, taught by ear with some visual aids (but not sheet music).
Wild Voice Chorus, Fall Session - Tuesdays September 17 - October 29, 6-8pm at New City Center/ Walker Church on 16th Ave and 31st St.
This is a chorus geared towards folks who can hold down their own harmony part pretty comfortably. We'll sing music from many harmony traditions which I've traveled and studied - Bulgarian, Georgian, Yiddish, South African, Corsican, Shapenote, original Sarina songs...
It will be way more awesome, fun and rewarding if you can come to all sessions of whichever you sign up for! Sliding scale fee of $70-$150 for each choir, with openness to bartering.
Join us for a 3-day song gathering in the magical high desert of New Mexico. We will be sharing songs of activism and spirituality and connecting with song as a potent medicine that can help us meet the challenges of each moment. Singing in community will feed our soul and fuel us to show up to these treacherous and beautiful times.
Our time together will include sessions guided by guest song leaders including: me, Shireen Amini, Te Martin, yeshe (Y) salz, Lauren Arrow, Mikyo Black-Wangmo, Joshua Blaine, Becky Reardon, and Miri Rivera.

Did you know, there used to be a tradition in Minneapolis parks of coming together for the simple joy of singing? We'd like to revive that. Join me and local song leaders Jayanthi Kyle, Linnea Champ, and Annie Schlaefer at Powderhorn for an afternoon of intergenerational community singing! Leaders will teach original, harmony-rich songs that invite people to connect. All voices are welcome and needed - no need to read music or think of yourself as "a singer". We will sing for joy and connection, not performance or perfection.
Bring a picnic to stay after and socialize if you like!
10:30am-12:30pm ~ Sing-along during Puppet Library Story Time
7-9pm “The Well Tree” Performance ~ GET TICKETS HERE
Join folk trio Heartwood for an all-ages, immersive, participatory journey through song and story - the show’s debut! The Well Tree is a three-person musical, illustrated by a ‘crankie’ - an illuminated, papercut, hand-cranked scroll. It is an original 'singing story' about wild journeying and remembering kinship -- the tale of a young woman moving beyond the fog of isolation to meet songbirds, snails and ancient trees as she travels through these unraveling times, finding her way home. The three members of Heartwood – Heidi Wilson, Willy Clemetson, and Sarina Partridge – will be the actors, musicians and the crew that runs the crankie (created by papercut artist Jen Jones) – and the audience will be invited in to help sing pieces of the story.
