Harmony Circle
We will play with learning to hold down a part, hearing harmonies, and we will learn lots of great songs of this seasonal moment together. Songs will be simple harmony songs in two or three parts, mostly songs I've written, taught by ear with some visual aids (but not sheet music).
Winter/Spring Session:
Monday evenings 6:30-8:30pm at New City Center/ Walker Church, February 23-April 6
AND
Tuesday mornings 10am-noon at New City Center/ Walker Church, February 24-April 7
Wild Voice Chorus
This is a chorus geared towards folks who can hold down their own harmony part pretty comfortably. We'll sing music from many harmony traditions which I've traveled and studied - Bulgarian, Georgian, Yiddish, South African, Corsican, Shapenote, and original Sarina songs.

What are folks saying about singing in these community choirs?
Wild Voices with Sarina was such a pleasure during the cold winter months. Sarina is a welcoming and warm leader, who makes the group and space one that all folks can enter and participate. The community of singers is likewise lovely. This was my first official session and I felt supported and engaged the whole time! Will definitely keep joining the group in future iterations.

“Wild Voice Choir was a safe space for me to meld voices with other community members and learn about and sing music from different cultures. The follow up emails each week are a great way to stay connected with the group and keep track of what music we covered; the links to practice the pieces are well organized and helpful. “

“Wild Voice was such a source of joy, connection and grounding in my life this season and I'm so grateful! The way you create such accessible, welcoming, no-shame space for singers of all kinds while also helping us make BEAUTIFUL music is such a special gift. I'm officially scheduling my life around this commitment for as long as I can :)”

“I'm a quiet and reserved person, especially among strangers, but I love to sing with other people. The Harmony Circle was a great way to be with others in beautiful, reflective song without the pressure of sheet music, performances, months of commitment, or auditions. The songs we sang come to the forefront of my mind easily outside of the circle, at just the right moments, wherever I could use a little comfort, peace, or acceptance of life's many changes.
The structure of the sessions and the environment you fostered helped me feel welcome as exactly who I am. Your teaching style makes it easy to learn the songs and to think about how and why I sing and what I might like to try differently with my body or my voice or my mentality about singing. We were such an eclectic group and our voices blended beautifully! Singing in relatively spontaneous community like that reminds me how connected we all are and can be, and singing songs with thoughtful messages reminds me to keep my mind open to opportunities to contribute to the natural and human world around me.”

I’ve been in choirs but have always just learned my part -alto or tenor. I loved learning all the parts and then being able to mix it up with the other voices to hear such a beautiful blend. It was a delight to gain the confidence to be able to do that - thanks to you.

Wild Voice Choir is a bright shiny light of singing and community. Sarina leads with humor, joy, knowledge, and humility. She has created a space to learn complicated polyphonic vocal music that is incredibly accessible and warm -- quite a feat! Sarina manages to hold and steward music from all over the world with so much respect and yet never takes anything too seriously. She finds joy in the humanness of singing, and I left our final singing with a renewed appreciation for the specialness of singing with other people. I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in this group and would recommend trying it out to anybody. Regardless of your level of music experience, you will leave a better singer, a better listener, and a little more hopeful about the world than you were before you started.
